New Stuff Galore !!!
Long time no see, huh?
Well, The Cinematheque is back babies!! After a multi-month sabatical, I have finally returned to my criticism. New reviews of The king, Hard Candy, The Proposition, Lady Vengeance, CSA, Drawing Restraint 9, The Notorious Bettie Page, Silent Hill, Clean, The Wayward Cloud, Three Times and L'Enfant can be found on my New Reviews page.
Coming within the next few weeks will be many more, such as Down in the Valley, Mouth to Mouth, Police Beat, Winter Passing, Friends with Money, Inside Man (a bit late but oh well), I am a Sex Addict, Sorry Haters, American Dreamz, The Sentinal, The Promise, Brick, Art School Confidential and Prairie Home Companion.
Other news you ask? Well, I went to my very first New York press screening last Thursday. I saw Hou Hsiao-hsien's Three Times (yet another great film in Hou's oeuvre, and my current number one film of 2006). This coming Thursday I will be in Philadelphia to see Robert Altman's latest, Prairie Home Companion. I'll be there with my friend (and Cinematheque correspondant) Albert H. Muth - who incidentally begged and cried on the phone until I said i would take him with me.
Well, that's about it for now, but be on the lookout for other new happenings at The Cinematheque, like updates to The Top Ten Project and my upcoming Early Bird Oscar Predictions, and if you delve deep enough into the very bowels of The Cinematheque, you will find my obsessive compulsive list-making - lists of all the films I've seen categorized by country of origin, by director, by theatre I saw them in and many others on the way. My Top 10 Vault will soon be updated as well, and of course don't forget to check out all my new reviews.
Oh, and by the way, in case you are one of those people (or a group of those people, hoping that there is more than just one person reading this) who care about these things, this is blog entry number 100. Blow out the candles and wish us a happy birthday.
